Installer

The Installer feature may be used to install, uninstall, and archive applications.

Internal Application Memory

Applications which are installed on your device are held in a special internal memory rather than on the SD card. Any application which is run on the device must be located in this memory. A device might have as few as 64 megabytes of memory available for application storage, or as much as one gigabyte (or more). This is advantageous in that all installed applications are available regardless of whether the SD card is present, but can be a problem when not enough memory is available to store all desired applications.

Application Archival

The Installer will allow you to copy applications to your SD card for storage. You can also use it to back up multiple versions of software, such that you may revert to an older version (e.g., if you find an updated version to be problematic). Because applications must be run from internal application memory, you cannot run an archived version of an application without first installing it.

Copy Protected Applications: The Installer cannot archive copy-protected applications, as it lacks the capability to retrieve them.
